As we reach the end of another year, I’d like to take the opportunity to reflect on what we’ve achieved together at Headway Bristol, and to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who continues to support our work.
One of the things I feel most proud of is seeing Headway Bristol in action day to day. There is a huge amount of dedication and hard work that happens behind the scenes to make this possible, but whenever I visit, what stands out most is the sense of happiness that runs through the charity. The laughter, warmth and genuine connections between people are always uplifting, and they perfectly reflect the supportive and inclusive community we work so hard to create. This positivity was borne out in the results of our 2025 service user survey.

This year has also brought its challenges. Operating across multiple sites has required flexibility, resilience and teamwork from everyone involved. While it has meant adapting in different ways, it has never changed our focus on supporting people with kindness, dignity and consistency. If anything, it has highlighted just how committed and adaptable the Headway Bristol community really is.
Looking ahead, our main priority for the year to come is a smooth transition into a new home. This will be a significant step for us and will take a great deal of planning and effort, but I’m confident that we are ready for it. Bringing our services, activities and people back together under one roof will strengthen connections and enhance the support we are able to provide. CEO Mari Holcombe will provide an update of her own in the New Year with all the exciting details – so be sure to watch this space!
Most importantly, I hope this message leaves you feeling positive about our future. Headway Bristol is built on a strong sense of community and inclusion, and it truly takes everyone – staff, volunteers, trustees and supporters – to make it the fantastic charity it is. This website sets out all the ways you can be involved, and every contribution, whether time, expertise or encouragement, plays a vital part in helping us continue our work.

Thank you for being part of the Headway Bristol community and for your ongoing support. I look forward with optimism and enthusiasm to the year ahead, and to all that we will achieve together.
