Huw Ponting, Chair of Trustees

What I do
As the chair of Trustees, I provide leadership and direction to the board, ensuring effective governance and strategic oversight. I lead board meetings, guide decision-making and support staff. I also represent the charity externally and foster a positive and effective board culture.

My skills and experience
I’m a Partner and Head of Personal Injury at Enable Law, assisting families following brain injury. I’m also a Court of Protection-appointed Deputy, managing property and financial affairs for a number of clients. I have been assisting families following brain injury for over 30 years helping them get the rehabilitation they require and then the right compensation to give then the future security they need.

Why I chose Headway
Brain injury has long been a cause that I have deeply cared about. I became involved early in my career after seeing a client benefit from Headway’s support. Being a trustee for Headway Bristol gives me a sense of purpose and an ability to contribute, applying my legal skills to the governance of the charity. It also gives me additional skills and experience that I can take back to my professional life for the benefit of my clients.
