The spirit of the Emerald Isle swept through Headway Bristol this St Patrick’s Day as local Irish dancers delivered a stirring performance for the charity’s service users, staff and volunteers. The event, held on 17th March, transformed the centre with music and movement, soft shoes and sequins.

The whole day was given over to celebrating Irish culture, with a morning of activities centred around researching, and then crafting, Irish cultural symbols. This led up to the afternoon visit from the seven dancers, who created a vibrant atmosphere and a memorable day for our service users.
After the dancers had finished their high-toe rises, 1-2-3 steps, jigs and high kicks, they found time (and breath!) to answer any questions the service users had. They kindly also offered to come back on another day to show more of their skills. A huge thanks from Headway Bristol to Stuart Irish Dance for giving up their time to support us.
The celebration was a highlight of the year so far, and a wonderful example of the joy, interest and excitement that comes with sharing in the many cultures alive (and high-kicking!) in Bristol. If you have a skill, interest or are of specialist knowledge you’d like to share at one of our sessions, please contact us.
