Headway Bristol’s student volunteers present on their specialist subjects

Service users and staff at Headway Bristol were treated to highly relevant multimedia presentations from three of our brilliant volunteers.

The presentations focused on neuroscience – the study of the body’s nervous system. In particular, the volunteers looked at neuropsychology, which is the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of cognitive, emotional and behavioural difficulties following brain damage or neurological disease.

Not only was it a chance for service users to learn more about what the volunteers have been studying, it was also a great opportunity for service users to meet and chat with volunteers who typically work in other centres, or on other days.

Phoebe, one of the volunteers, spoke about her recently completed Undergraduate BSc in Sociology with Psychology at the University of the West of England. She also covered other volunteering she’s taken part in at RISE and Changes Bristol. She said:

Headway regularly receives applications from students who wish to volunteer or take on a work experience placement. Our volunteers’ most common areas of study being health and social care, psychology and general business studies.

Whether you’re free for just a week, or a whole term, please do get in touch! We receive lots of applications and places are limited, and recommend you contact us as far in advance as possible.
