Crisis Support

Here to support and guide you and your loved ones through and after your hospital stay.

Hospital Navigators: What We Do

Whilst your loved one is in hospital, Headway Bristol’s hospital navigators can support you with:

• Understanding the effects brain injury may have on your loved one and support with medical terminology

• Provide emotional and practical support

• Be a link between the family and hospital staff

• Help with finance, provide welfare advice and help with seeking legal advice where appropriate

• Support with rehab pathways.

Hospital Navigator Service: How to find us?

We visit the ICU and neuro wards at Southmead Hospital on Wednesday Afternoons and regularly attend the neuro ward at Bristol Royal Infirmary.

Alongside this, we also have a drop in stand located outside both the neuro wardse at both hospitals on the days stated above.

Our navigators are friendly and always ready to talk: call us directly on 07776 369507

Discharge From Hospital
On discharge, Headway Bristol is here to support and advise you through the process of understanding your loved one’s brain injury.
Whilst people with a brain injury can often recover and lead a relatively normal life, families may see changes in their loved one, such as personality or different behaviours, or an inability to function as they once did – and these things require significant adjustment and understanding by everyone.
